Re: I have HUGE news about re-released beads.
Louise is in business, just like TB is in business. I don't know why you all get so shocked over her pronouncements. And she's in a tough spot, both a dealer of new TBs and a trader in retireds. Her choice, but it isn't easy to be perfect at both. She has stumbled sometimes between what she knows from TBHQ and what they don't want her to say. I wish she was better at it, but she's a businesswoman, she's not in the State Department or Foreign Service.
I do take her 'news' with large grains of salt, but I also recognize that she adds a lot to the TB world with her forum and her TrollFest events. A lot of Troll friendships have been forged from TBG ties.

stephenie wrote:TBHQ doesn't decide to retire their best selling beads so that the secondary market becomes inflated. They decide to retire beads that aren't selling that well. Apparently joyful wasn't selling that well when it was still part of the regular inventory. Any decisions TB makes will have to do with THEIR bottom line, not collectors. I would take any rumors with a grain of salt. I seriously think that if TBHQ thinks they will make money rereleasing more retireds, they will do it without much thought for collectors or resellers. As someone who won't pay high prices for beads, this pleases me. However, if they don't rerelease any more retireds, then I must say how happy I am that the bead they choose to release was the joyful, as that is the only one I was interested in anyways.
However, as Brightonbelle stated, it is time to redo the antique flower. Surely they can make a darker green bead with purple flowers.
Well said - I agree with you.

@LindaJo - If we aren't shocked it is a sad commentary on our expectations of human behavior. Sorry, but if she is going to post that type of blog it is going to be commented on.

I guess maybe the on-line dealers that set up this inflated retired market were not happy about their stock being devalued .... what a shame

I love it and will pay TBHQ £££ for a Crane, because I can trust the source, unlike *bay and other secondary sources.

Oh dear, those were the days... Been there, done that, still got some of them and learnt a very valuable lesson in the process: To focus on what I really love

Re: I have HUGE news about re-released beads.
Why don't they release the beads that are so rare, so basically nonexistent they are never seen for auction or resale. This way remaking them would not step on any toes.

Would those be the ones that customers want though? Surely they should re-release the beads that will bring the most profit for the company so that it prospers.

Who wouldn't want the Swan or Crown?
Or remake some of the tinier silver beads in a distinctly larger size, like the Pyramids or Spots.

Re: I have HUGE news about re-released beads.
Anyone else noticed the addition to the blog?
Additional thoughts: I should say "for the immediate future" all plans have ceased as far as making any more old beads over again. As for the distant future...well you know business. Decisions in the business world are changed all the time so I think I'll leave it open to what may happen a few years out.

I couldn't have put it into better words, exactly my opinion, Trolldog!Trolldog wrote:Hope the grumblers are happy now. It does NOT bring me one bit of pleasure to know that I have a crane or any other bead and alot of people want one and can't get one. Am I just stupid here??? What is the satisfaction in knowing that?? I completely do NOT understand people. What the heck difference does it make? You have one, why do you want others NOT to have one? Thank you Lord for not letting me have that mindset...I think it says alot about people...JMHO My crane would not be devalued one bit if they were to make a reproduction so others could have one. Oh, wait a minute...I buy beads because I love them, not for resale value.....dang.....now I get it.......

It is what I learn when I get some information that they will only be le for special days. No one said all together the releases will come.
Is this tracking back for this commenter I think.

Re: I have HUGE news about re-released beads.
i think this is great news.
and Trolldog.. we so called grumblers have been collecting for many years.. relentlessly.. we have taken up the challenge for the search for a particular retired bead.. also relentlessly...paid reasonable sums for those retired beads.. (and saving hard to pay the sums).. so don't you think it is only fair that newer colectors should also embark upon a similar journey.. and if a newer collector is truly a devotee.. with a true passion for Trollbeads the collector will embrace the challenge... enjoy the research.. enjoy the chase.. feel the joy when they finally receive that special bead..instead of having it presented to them on a silver plate... yes Trollbeads, you have heard the voice of the devotees.. the people.. and made a great decision.. a decision that will see Trollbeads remain the great collectible that it currently is.. so THANK YOU TROLLBEADS...

I am sorry but I respectfully beg to differ. Trollbeads did not state explicitly that the beads would be removed permanently from the collection when they they were retired. Neither do they represent themselves as makers of collectibles. Given the prices of Trollbeads these days, I hardly think that they are being presented to us on a silver plate. Not all of us who enjoy these beads want to or can pay the absurd amounts on the secondary market for what are essentially mass-market items, albeit scarce ones. Nor do we have the time to exhaustively search them out. Should the enjoyment of these designs be limited to those with the deepest pockets or the most time to look? Does not being able to pay the high prices make us less passionate or true?

Thanks for pointing this out. Ahh, the magic of the open ended statement! Perhaps they will let the furor die down and then revisit the re-releases.

This is what I love about this group! It is first and foremost about the beads and we always have a roving eye out for them.

I don't want to chase beads, I want to buy them for a reasonable price and wear them. And I don't see any difference between "new" and "old" collectors. Just because we don't want to pay $900 for a crane doesn't make us less of a "devotee" as you say.
