My first gemstone fling!

So as some of you might have read in the bracelet designs section, I am a troll girl who has lived with complete glass phobia! Only occasionally adding prisms to my silvers for a bit of colour. I had fallen in love with the stones and decided it was time to be brave... so OH took me out on a troll hunt this weekend and I came home with my first 3 stones...

Here they are..

A very pale pink agate



I LOVED its 'glow'



Turquoise agate..





And this was just love at first sight... Chalcedony..

What do you think? Any advice and suggestions are most welcome, I felt like a complete beginner trying to put them together on my bracelet.

They are beautiful, I love the pale turquoise and pink agates and chalcedony is one I have been thinking about for a while.

You should both get a Chalcedony immediately! When you see it in the flesh it is impossible to leave behind, they are such beautiful stones.

I just bought a beautiful turquoise agate today. I don't even LIKE agates.

I have tried but my all silver bracelets are never quite good enough. I need some lessons.

Soxfan the agates are lovely, I think you just have to find the right ones though.. there were a lot I would not have considered bringing home. But now they are 40% off it would be foolish to resist I want to get up to 5 stones on this one, to ease me in... though I am told 7 might be better.

Lecohen you must have a go! I absolutely love putting together all silver bracelets, it does take some time to get it just right but I find it positively easy compared to this... it was worth it though I can't stop looking at my wrist today.

That's a beautiful glow ball of a chalcedony Magpie Kate, there's something magical about those stones isn't there . So do you think this will be a long term affair? Are you enjoying wearing them?

Yes they are very magical splinty! It is definitely going to be a long term affair, I am in love and very much looking forward to adding a lot more stones to my collection over time. I am hunting already, because of course the addiction is strong... and made stronger by the high of my new additions. I am really enjoying wearing them, they make my bracelet feel extra special.

Ohh thank you, I really would love to see your collection. This new world has me by the throat, I was a goner as soon as I tried them on. I have always loved stones and worn a lot of them. I don't know why I didn't think to look at adding them to my Troll for so long, but I am so glad I did.

What about amber beads Magpie? They are very addictive too. They look really good with the silvers.

Do you think ambers would suit me? I don't wear orange at all.. I am very very fair skinned, with dark hair and blue eyes.

Why not - there are lots of different colours in amber - from almost white to dark brown.

I am amber-ignorant Brightonbelle, the only amber I have seen in person is the generic set my LD has had in stock for over a year!

If you use the search facility on this forum, you will find photos of some gorgeous amber.
