'New' Greyhound Locks
I never saw the Greyhound Locks for sale on D4E but I know some people got them. I just saw a pic of one on facebook and wonder if they are slightly different to the 'old' ones? Has anyone ordered one recently and could post a close-up pic? I was under the impression that the new ones have a round bail at the end of the 2 parts while the original ones are rather flat? Pics would be great!

Re: 'New' Greyhound Locks
They're the same imo!
The designer still has the moulds and occasionally produces a new batch, silver or gold.
I've got the retired ones and I can see really no difference...

It could be just the angle of the pic. It looked a little different to me...

Re: 'New' Greyhound Locks
I just bought a 'new' one to go on my all amber bracelet. Here is a picture of both of mine....
Top polished one is an original and the more oxidised one at the bottom is 'new'. They look almost same to me, the little balls on top look slightly more rounded on original, but could just be finishing. I don't think you can tell the difference at a glance.

If you bought it from D4E then I'm sure it is genuine. Both mine came from max anderson's shop in Roskilde. That is where D4e get them from also.

Re: 'New' Greyhound Locks
It is possible to make copies of beads or locks. But the copy would end up to be approx. 10% smaller then the original. A copy will also loose on the details. So you'd see it rather easily, imo.
Re: 'New' Greyhound Locks
Please forgive a "newbie" question, but why is this lock named the greyhound lock? It is gorgeous, but doesn't look like a dog to me.....

I would love a greyhound, I keep checking D4E and I've never seen them in the retired section...they must come in and go straight back out again?

I have watched them fly in (and out) a few times, dithering over whether to get one, until it is too late, I am not sure if I really want one or not.......
Have you checked out these threads though?

Re: 'New' Greyhound Locks
Is there a difference in the stamps? (like the bicones?) (NB this doesn't bother me!)
Re: 'New' Greyhound Locks
I'm a bit puzzled over this as a newbie. I have a greyhound lock. It was sold to me for a lot of money as a retired item. Do I now understand correctly they are newly made? That sucks...

Re: 'New' Greyhound Locks
How does one tell the difference between an original Greyhound Lock and a re-issue? I would be happy to buy one of the newer versions but would want the price to reflect that.

BeadGirl posted pictures of the new and old one on the first page of this thread. Pretty hard to tell the difference.

Naughty.
I am glad that I have not invested a lot of money in an undermined collectible.

Yes I've seen them, I find it very hard to see more than normal differences. I just studied mine again, I'd say it's got some age to it. And it's very pretty!Carla wrote:dutchmilkmaid wrote:Ah, you will be able to tell us! Hope it arrives soon.Carla wrote:I understand because I purchased an old one for almost 175 usd. Re: 'New' Greyhound Locks
They are lovely things but I would like to see a clear distinction made between new products sold outside the system and retired Trollbeads.

Re: 'New' Greyhound Locks
I think there is a distinction with the stamps on the bicones - I guess that TBs didn't have the rights to some early designs and the designers are just re-issuing them?

Precisely.
I don't know what the stamp on the bicones look like now, but on the old ones the stamp is "GLAD" and "925"
