New design... ᗩᒪTITᑌᗪEᔕ Art Deco Buildings bead

Next to the dragon beads that are coming we're also finishing another bead!

Just a hint.... any idea?

Something like a castle???

A shiny bead partly black rodinated with squares like the rose - titanic meeting iceberg.

maybe a glass bead I have no idea I mainly see glass but I think you are into the silver beads now so I think I'm way off

even thought it's an old building it must be a very "modern" look and feel to them and because there are three buildings perhaps three modern cubic rounded ones?

Hmmm Sir Owen Williams? No, Ellis and Clark Art Deco?..this is a copy of the Daily Express Building in Fleet Street and there's also one in Glasgow . I saw the lobby of the Fleet Street one when I worked for Reuters, it was phenomenal!

Perfect! Indeed it is the Daily Express Bulding, but the picture above shows the building located in Manchester. It was built in 1939 to house one of three Daily Express offices; the other two similar buildings are located in London and Glasgow. The interiors are indeed phenomenal!

This bead is going to be a hard one to guess further on I'm afraid. It incorporates references to three more icons of Art Deco. The picture with the Hindenburg tells a bit about the atmosphere of that era and how this new bead tries attempts to bridge the period between Art Deco and its modern day revival in Steampunk.

"Art Deco is a uniquely urban style of architecture that celebrated modernity. In some respects it was modeled on the sleek, streamlined modern architecture found in Europe, such as the Bauhaus or the International style; but rather than these structural forms devoid of any applied ornamentation, Art Deco buildings reveal applied, machine-like patterns such as repetitive stamp-like images of machine gears, wheels, or automobile imagery, or zigzag patterns of more exotic images. For example, the discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb in 1922 fueled an interest in things Egyptian, and so Egyptian-styled patterns found their way onto Art Deco buildings. Thank you Nataly! The glass you see here from Christa/Luccicare was actually acquired when she designed for Macrow. I've been informed Christa is happy to redo the glass you see used in my pictures. Just give her a message with a link to the picture you're referring to if you need a specific bead....
