Bees and Honey

Last weekend we came back not only from a trip to the Alps but also to my dear in-laws. My dear father-in-law is a beekeeper. And he has been processing honey during the week that we visited. This way DH could help carrying buckets of honey into the cellar (each weighing about 50 KG), and I got to ask a lot of questions and help a little bit, too One evening I accompanied my DFIL to the bees who have their home in a conservation area not far away from my IL´s home. We brought back emptied honeycombs in their frames. The bees then go and take the honey that was not extracted and then they repair any damage done by the honey centrifuge (tiny fissures that cannot totally be avoided) and then they re-fill them. For this the lid of the hive has to be opened, the box with the frames is added on top and then it is closed again with the lid. There is a bit of foil on top that has to be taken off a tiny bit so that the bees can enter the top part. A few escaped, decided I was the enemy and I got stung once It did not hurt as much as it did surprise me. I had a bee in my view in front of my eye and tried not to jump but got stung in my side through the T-Shirt - I guess they worked together Luckily I am not allergic and it did not really hurt much, more my pride than my body It has not dimmed my curiosity but has spiked my respect for my DFIL and all beekeepers

Of course the TB Day Wings of Amber was a must for me and I was lucky to get a most gorgeous one
Until this spring I was not really into Dora. But with the spring collection Shine and quite a few bees debuted - and I did no longer resist

I just received in the mail today 2 of the single bee beads that I ordered from TB USA, I couldn't pick the individual bead, just say "light, medium or dark" - but I am happy with them and love how they look with my other Ambers and Bee themed beads.
