Celtic Eye Bead
Last Week I visited lovely Austria and went to the Celtic Museum in Hallein and while the whole exhibition was very interesting, the glass beads (of course) held the most appeal for me When I look at these (probably imports from Greece and/or Egypt it is believed and dating back to as early as the 5th or 6th century BC (!)), nothing today is really „new“. I truly admire the craftmanship of these beads, which are at least 2.250 (!) years old (I forgot to take a picture of the explaining text with the date on it, but if I remember correctly these are believed to be from around 250 BC or older) <3 I asked the lovely Christa Keizer (Luccicare) if she would be so lovely to re-create one for me and I absolutely love my new „Celtic“ eye bead.
This whole bracelet stands for many a lovely visit to the alps - so of course it has the Ohmtoberfest beads, then the green striped bead stands for the green pastures of the alps, the fish bead for the Salzach and all the other alpine rivers, of course our doggies are always with us, so the paw needs to be there, then „cozy“ and its partner (bought in Bavaria during one of our visits) and of course my lovely new swap bead, standing for the lovely autumn colours of the forest this year while we visited (Mabel could not have picked a better bead ). The Mandy Ramsell bead with the groundhog was a Halloween Swap gift a few years back and has been on this bracelet ever since and the red striped one stands for the sun Mountain flower explains itself and while I mostly use the swan lock (for Castle Neuschwanstein), I changed it to the Freya lock to resemble Celtic knot symbols (I do know that Freya is not a celtic goddess , but Celtic and Norse knot symbols resemble each other enough that it works here, very wonderfully

It is amazing when you think about the level of craftsmanship that people could accomplish with far fewer tools than we have now. It sounds like a lovely trip and a wonderful bead to remind you of it
