Secret Santa Swap 2014 Sign Up List - Swap Partners Sent ! :)

Here's the sign up list and rules for our 2014 Secret Santa Swap      

As some of us celebrate the holidays as Christmas and others as Yule and maybe others under yet another name, I mentioned Christmas, Yule and Midwinter in my following post and hope that that is ok  

The rules... (I borrowed the Rules from our Halloween Swap )
THIS IS OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS  

Please send a Trollbead either new or from your collection that reminds you of Christmas or Yule or Midwinter.
A nice card should be enclosed in the package, it is your choice to reveal yourself or remain a secret

As always it is wonderful to put some goodies from your hometown or that remind you of Christmas or Yule or Midwinter in the package, that remains optional.

Please sign up by Sunday, November 2nd.

Please mail packages by Friday, November 14  and remember overseas packages take a little longer.  
Please if I forgot anything let me know  

If you are sending something to a swap partner outside your custom´s zone (f.e. from the EU to the US or from the US to Switzerland and so on) please remember to put a custom´s sticker on the outside mentioning the content and marking the parcel clearly as a gift. There are certain values for gifts without custom´s charges (f.e. 45 Euros for anything to be sent to Germany, but this varies from country to country). I would like to advise to only use normal postal services not UPS or FedEx and the likes, especially if you post to somebody outside your custom´s zone because while f.e. UPS will do all custom´s clearance procedures, it will also charge the recipient for this (They will add custom´s fees, VAT of the country it goes to, and on top of that their own fee) - and they cost the sender more also!

THIS YEAR I AM ASKING FOR VOLUNTEER BACK UPS TO SEND REPLACEMENT PACKAGES IN THE EVENT A PACKAGE DOES NOT ARRIVE IN A REASONALBE AMOUNT OF TIME. ALSO IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT IF YOU SIGN UP YOU INTEND TO SEND A PACKAGE, IN OTHER WORDS IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO PLAY PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP. IF YOU WISH TO BE A BACK UP PLEASE LET ME KNOW BY PM.

This way I can get swap partners back to you by PM on Saturday, November 8 at the latest (I will try earlier but evenings during the work week are always a bit hectic...).  
I am choosing the partners randomly. The way it works is that you send to your swappie they send to someone else and someone else sends to you.
I hope I did not confuse anyone.

Thank you Cutey for the customs advice - I had already included the advice to mark the parcel as a gift in my original post in the beginning. And it is indeed very important.

As to the value, it is illegal to advise on putting a value on the parcel that is clearly not right. It will also bring the recipient into trouble if customs keep the parcel and it needs to be opened with the recipient present.

It is, however, totally legitimate to post the total value allowed for gifts to not incurr any further custom´s charges. But please do so in an extra reply (please not within the list) and please add the country it applys for. As I mentioned in my post for Germany it seems to be 45 Euros for a gift (I read that while waiting at custums last week to claim a parcel of goods I had ordered from the US).

In 6 years I have never had a swap package stopped by customs, 3 purchases! But never a swap. It would make it impossible for anyone outside the UK to send me a package, if they tried to stay within a £10 limit. So basically, I don't care, send what you like I'll deal with it.

The limits for receiving gifts in the UK from outside the EU are a wee bit more generous than £10. According to HMRC's website, gifts up to the value of £36 are exempt from Import VAT and customs duty. That should be plenty to cover any Secret Santa swap.
