My new DIY beadbox
I finally finished my beadbox project and I'm so happy with the result!
The box itself has very high affection value to me and I'm especially happy that I was able to re-use it. Three years ago my parents moved to a new house and I went to help them move and sort stuff (most of the things in the attic were all my childhood stuff anyway) and I found this box that I hadn't seen for 25 years. When I was little I used to sew alot, mostly little plush toys and I would keep all my sewing equipment in this box. With a large bottom compartment and a top removable tray, I immediatly saw the potential as a beadbox since my current jewellery box was being outgrown, but the box was in a poor condition, edges were gaping etc. My mum's neighbour is a carpenter and glued the edges back together under pressure so the box got back to its original shape and he made two fillets/lists for me to put in the bottom for bead sticks.
So this weekend I spent painting it all white, TB logo on top, glued in the lists and finished it with a layer of varnish and here's the final result (please ignore all the cat hair, it's hard doing a project like this with three curious fur babies around). I might replace the rods with metal ones in time.

That is FANTASTIC!! I love it and what a great feeling of accomplishment you must have. The fact that you could re-purpose something with so much happy memories is WONDERFUL. I truly believe that your beads are surrounded and infused with positive energy, and so will you be when wearing them
