So disappointed - show me your combos with Green-lilac-dilo - first try of a combo

I was so happy to have the chance to buy this bead at a big e-shop in Germany, the pic was so awfully nice!

But already in the beginning the shop had problems with my bank transfer, I had to ask them, if they received it after two weeks because I didn't received confirmation or a shipping notice of them.

Today the GLA finally arrived, 3 weeks later and I had to pay a third more for taxes (costumes). It was nicely packed but when I opened the TB bag I could cry, this bead is so ugly (my husband said, it looks like "already eaten once") Fortunately he don't know, what I paid for!

Perhaps in a combo it will look nicer, can you please help me and show me pics of your combos with it?

this isnt really a combo - I just got mine last week and popped it on the end of a blue combo I had hanging around -
I have taken this apart since though - but I think it will go with these colours best

You'll have to show us a picture of your bead. I'm so sorry you are disappointed, it can be hard to combine sometimes but it's my DH's favourite of my collection. Here are some of my combos with the GLA.

There's two different kinds of GLA: the original one, which is pastelly (like prin's, I think?) and a more recent one, which is much brighter (like Molamola's). If you were after the one, but received the other, I can well understand that you would be disappointed. I know I disliked the pastel one at first, but find I use it much more frequently these days than the other. Will try and dig for pics of either type on a combo for you tomorrow.

Yes, good point Snork. The original GLA does look strange if you are used to seeing the birighter one, however there are a lot of beads in the collection now which would work beautifully with the original GLA. Please post a picture and maybe we can pool some ideas for you.

Here is my beloved g/l dillo. That was one bead that I HAD to have as a TB collector. This is an old combo- when it first came home to me.

Bluesybeads those dillos are fantastic, magnificent, just wonderful. What a variety of color.

Mine is also in my box. i like better the old museum beads with the grey base and less colors. There is some good desins here I can get mine out may be to use.

Drooling over here...GLA is a dream bead for me!

This thread is making me regret once again that i didn't get a second old Antique Flower whilst I had a chance. That bead was made to go with the GLA.

Snork, your bracelet is beautiful.

Here are mine - they're both older ones (unstamped) and the look-a-like in the middle is an ooak bead.
I remember lots of gla ooaks being released a few years ago, and some were a little 'messy' looking.

I would love to see yours Swisstroll, I'm sure its not ugly, sometimes when I get a bead I have wanted for a while and paid a lot for, I am disappointed at first, just because my expectations were so high

I thought that the old ones are unstamped and have a lilac edge (is edge the right word?) next to the core. mine is old, unstamped and not very pastelly, it has good and great colours. But it isn't transparent, as you sometimes see them.

First of all: Thanks to all of you for your posts to cheer me up and for showing me your gorgeous combos!

With your suggestions I'm sure to find my own combination with this bead and make it shine! I already tried to combine it with other beads and I realy like it together with moon and ocean, so I have a new challenge now!

I think it was my husbands comment that made me so sad, but in the daylight this morning, sleeping over it, everything looked much better!

The second thing: I had to learn how difficult it is, to take a pic of this bead, I tried it since this morning with different light and on different places, but I finally succeeded, at least the colors look authentic:



Perhaps it will take some time until I really love this bead, sometimes things need some time for growing on me.

As soon, as a found a combo and gonna wear it, I will show to you!
