(hee, hee) Yes, Pandabee - I had a look at about 40 of them, and NONE were the bright orange they looked in the TBHQ photos. I think the official ones had bad spray tans! The colour is actually more like a Russian Pink amber...

Is it still spoken much at all? (sorry if I'm showing my ignorance...)

I was brought up in England on the south coast, so I sound a bit mockney cockney. My Dad knows Welsh , he did it at school and my cousins can speak Welsh too.

I'm rubbish at it, I can say Bore da (hello) Nadolig Llawen (Happy Christmas) and Sais (englishman) and that's it. But as my Dad is Welsh, they think that makes me Welsh too Very Happy

And the beads are darker, ummm. I think my wallet is going to trottle me in my sleep Twisted Evil oh well Very Happy

Just to answer - Both of my grandmother's spoke Welsh fluently, it was my maternal grandmother's first language. She was brought up in West Glamorgan, as it was known then, and Welsh as a first language was pretty regional in those days. Even today there are areas which are predominantly Welsh speaking although, with economic movement, there are more Welsh speakers in Cardiff (the Capital City) than ever before.
I can read and understand the spoken word to a certain extent but I don't class myself as a Welsh speaker. I have had to teach the basics to English speaking children at Primary level. Children have to learn Welsh in school these days until they're sixteen and, for many jobs in Wales, the Welsh language/ bilingualism is a requirement. Many parents choose to send their English speaking children to schools which teach all subjects through the medium of Welsh...for whatever reason!

That sounds a great thing to do, Angeltroll. Shows a real pride in the language and its continuation, especially in the young people. I must visit one day. My partner is picking out places from a show called 'A Place in the Sun- Home or Away', and I'm sure several of those are in Wales.

What a lovely bracelet you've put together. I really love the glass WT bead in particular, just like a school of tropical fish!
