Desert Greenery Empty Desert Greenery

Post by Brightonbelle Sat Jan 28, 2012 1:46 pm

My late father collected Lithops, sometimes called 'Living Stones', clever plants that grow in the South African desert. Lithops lie hidden in the dry season but plump up into lush cushions of cream, green or brown flesh when it rains. Dad had a large greenhouse full of Lithops at the end of our garden and was always looking for new variants. Dillos always remind me of them or some reason.

I love your bracelet BB. Your new beads are perfect. I used to have a thing for Lithops about 20 years ago. Very Happy

The combo is gorgeous BB!! The new beads are fabulous, and I had never heard of a Lithop, but I love how different things remind us of our loved ones and bring back wonderful memories!!

It's a beautiful bracelet; I love the greens.

Are those Lithops the bracelet is resting on?

Ooh, a beautiful sight for winter-weary eyes! There's nice detail on your barrel bead. that's one I think I will have to get in person, after the initial comments about the detail on some not being very clear.

This one isn't anywhere near as crisp as the barrel shown in Trollbeads photo but it isn't half as blurred as the one I saw at my LD either. Buyer beware.

Yes the bracelet does look like the plants. You have done a fantastic job creating this! What a lovely way to keep the memory of your dad's passion alive too. So very special. I am really pleased to see new beads too. I had been wondering what they would look like. Smile
