My new sapphire Empty My new sapphire

Post by cyberfairy Thu Oct 31, 2013 2:53 pm

I bought a sapphire at the weekend but I am struggling to decide if I really like it. It's growing on me but I can't work out a bracelet where I am 100% happy with it.

This is where it is living at the moment.

They can be a difficult colour to blend, might be easier to contrast! That's a lovely one though, so you have to persevere ~ it's looking like it's calling the azure bubbles, maybe work round those so the dark ones don't drain it? (although I know you prefer dark and moodies like me). I went for a very dark midnight blue as I knew I'd have the same problem with the bluer ones Rolling Eyes

Hey, Cyber! Great sapphire! Is it the color of the stone itself, or the fact that its hard to combine that has you on the fence?

If it's about trouble combining, I'd keep it. W/yours in this lighter color, there's no mistaking...its a sapphire b/c of the true blue, so maybe it should pop... it's very pretty and would work well in this and other variations of this combo. The pop of subtle color as a contrast, as splinty says, is lovely. Maybe even add more pinks and greys?

Buuut if it's the color itself and you don't LOVE it, maybe LUMP it. (I'd feel torn as well, b/c i like moody blues too, but this is such a true sapph) You have a great example, is that a good reason to keep? If you don't love the color, then for the $$ maybe there's a more perfect one for you that makes your heart really sing? Either way, LUCKY GAL!! I love you

That is a beautiful stone - you need to keep it! I agree it may be easier to contrast it with different colours..........

Here is my sapphire with some of my favourite blue beads in different shades.  At the moment the sapphire is on a bracelet with green and teal beads in jewel tones but I also think that azure bubbles will work.My new sapphire P1010738

It is a beautiful stone! I have mine on the new black-silver leather bracelet with a water lock and a purple rippling bubbles (that is mostly white and blue) and I love the simplicity of it to pieces Smile I usually combine it with my X-bracelet (my first ever stack design). I will ask DH to take a photo and post it later.

That is a beautiful stone - I'd be tempted to show it off as a high contrast focal bead...maybe with pale greys/purples or creams? It would look amazing on its own too, either with the rest as silver or on its own on a bangle... Very Happy

It looks gorgeous opposite Azure Bubbles too!

Alternatively I'm sure I could offer it a good home... Wink
