Been having a play while (im)patiently waiting for my Halloween beads to make their way over the pond to me. I love the fun aspect of Halloween but for me the holiday is more about Samhain & the turning of the wheel (aka new year) so at the moment my bracelet feels to me like a little bit of a weird mix of halloween frivolity with pagan undertones.

From left to right

Baltic mushrooms - magic mushrooms were traditionally used in a lot of spells at Samhain, notably a 'flying' spell allowing one to astral travel
Italy WT glass
RBF moongazing hare - a white hare is believed to be the soul of a young woman who died of a broken heart and comes back to haunt her lover in the form of a white hare. Ultimately the hare causes the death of the unfaithful man on Halloween. Hares are also sacred to the goddess.

I think the rubber duckie needs to go before the others lynch him for lowering the tone and the sugar skull & rolling troll are having a bit of an identity crisis, catholic roses in a sea of pagan thorns Wink
