Oriental inspiration with red
Chinese Zodiacs - Tiger, Goat, Dragon and Snake.
Chinese Kimono beads.
Duckling of course!
Japanese flag- yay!
Different tupilak faces reminding me of the Chinese dragon face and celebrating festivities.
Red - now what is red to the orient - what does it mean? I just think it gives something special to the other beads, and I am thinking of velvet, but if you know any oriental red symbolism, please let me know!

Re: Oriental inspiration with red
Red, corresponding with fire, symbolizes good fortune and joy. Red is found everywhere during Chinese New Year and other holidays and family gatherings. A red envelope is a monetary gift which is given in Chinese society during holiday or special occasions. The red color of the packet symbolizes good luck. Red is strictly forbidden at funerals as it is a traditionally symbolic color of happiness.

Re: Oriental inspiration with red
It is believed that no country in the world has ever adopted a color in such a thoroughgoing way as China, where red is a symbol that gives color to the soul of the nation. In the past, red stood for dignity and mystery. Even now, we adore the color much more than we love it. It is can be said that 'China Red' is an eternal theme for China, and an essential color for the Chinese people. "China Red" has become a quite popular word, attracting the world's attention.
Finding red-colored things in China is an easy task, as its powerful presence can be found every-where. All traditional red things have been playing special roles in China: the walls of ancient palaces, the national flag, Chinese knot, lantern, couplet, clothes, traditional paper-cuts for window decorations, and even red tanghulu (sugar-coated haws on a stick). Red is the color of the auspicious, signifying reunion, health, happiness, harmony, peace and prosperity. Only real things and events can fully display and explain its beauty. Only in its relation with people can the color be alive and meaningful. Here we will reveal the cultural significance of China red.
In China, red is more than just a color. It carries the ancient history and culture of the Chinese nation. China Red is filled with mysterious charm beyond description and it is right here in China waiting for you to feel, to discover.

The red in the beads give the bracelet such a sense of dignity. The Japan Rising Sun bead is one of my favorite World Tour beads.

Re: Oriental inspiration with red
Thank you, Yohanna,
Wow - purely instinct to put red in the bracelet - I did not know how
much red was integrated with Chinese culture - but it is certainly fitting!
The bracelet was kind of putting itself together
Fortune and joy and good luck
Reunion, health, happiness, harmony, peace and prosperity!
Jhulings, indeed dignity and it feels very sofisticated to wear too!
Unity in Trollbeads land

Yes, a duck dish and "By the mid-20th century, Peking Duck had become a national symbol of China". Besides the Danish word for duck is my son's nickname, and he loves everything japanese and I love chinese - we both hope to go travelling in the not too distant future
Maybe we will see ducks in the streets
