Every now and then I treat myself to some really sophisticated Darjeeling.

No milk or sugar of course! Scent, flavour and colour of this tea are spectacular IRL! MmmmMMmmMMM!

It's a description of tea quality, in this case the highest grade available in leaf tea.

S(pecial) F(inest) T(ippy) G(olden) F(lowery) O(range) P(ekoe)

Meaning only the finest buds are used, and the leaves are not crushed or torn in the process.

So good in fact that some Tea junkies think it stands for "Far too good for ordinary people"!

Oh my goodness, where on earth did you come across that acronym? (I told you you were erudite!) I must collect myself a pocketful of the finest uncrushed buds next time I walk through a tea plantation. Love your golds and silvers and blues together, just lovely, and those tea cups are charming – but what is the plain cup and saucer?

Love your title, your combo and your picture! Nothing like a cup of good tea to make your universe happy, at least for a bit. There's a quaint tea store near me and they have these big jars of exotic teas. I've become hooked on their Harmutty Assam and Rose Congou. They also give little samples, which is a great way to try the estate specific ones and exotic blends. Have you had white tea? It's a bit sweet, grassy and floral and quite addictive.

A lot of cups and reading this thread I got the craving for a cup of tea with honey - off I go

White tea is wonderful! My best friend always makes white tea for me when I come to visit her, and while the kids wreck the house we chat in her kitchen for two or three pots of it.

Only the lightest and most transparent beads will do to capture the delightful essence of these noble teas.

Bowerbird and Kristin, yes, that's the Austrian WT cup. Never mind that they call it Wiener Melange, a Frisian tea cup would also be that flat and wide shape (to better bring out the flavour and allow cooling off of the surface).

As far as I am concerned, they can just keep them coming! I have cups of all size and shape!

And Snork, your knowledge of all things tea is just amazing! I will never look at my tea cups in the same way again. I can see I'll have to start getting very sniffy and fussy about what I pour into which cup to truly enjoy the experience!

I love the Wiener Melange, for the roundness and heft—had to get 2 more of it. Guess I'm on my way to a tea bracelet, too. Could not live without my afternoon tea.

This is so so beautiful that I cannot think of words to praise it enough.
