Loose core on Red tigers eye??
So my LD got some of the Winter release in (all but the LE kits) and the red tigers eye which I have been wanting to see IRL for a long time. Well as they are beautiful beads, I was highly disappointed that every single bead (RTE) had a loose core. The stone rotates on the core, it is not tight like other precious stones.
Now on a bracelet that wouldn't matter I know, but it really bothers me. Also, when you look closely at the stone and see the flash there are black markings that make it look like the stone is chipped or that the color is dyed on?
Can you give me thoughts on this, those of you who have seen them IRL or have them? I still want one, but not if the core is THAT loose that you can see in btwn where the core and stone do not touch

Re: Loose core on Red tigers eye??
I did buy one last week. The stone is not died it is a proper stone so the black is part of it. The core of mine is not lose and I can not see any black bits in my stone. I think you should just keep waiting for a good bead to come about.

Re: Loose core on Red tigers eye??
I've taken it of my wishlist for the same reason you give. My LD has had several and all were dull coloured, with black markings or horrible cores. And with the prise increase I will probable not be able to afford them anyway.
But if you really want one I think you should just wait until you find the perfect one for you! I also waited to years to find the two perfect labradorites Hope it will not take that long for you!

So the black scratches are part of it because its a natural stone? Ok, well I feel better about that. The colors in the ones that she has are very pretty and vibrant, but the core still bugs me.

Re: Loose core on Red tigers eye??
I bought one when they were first released and I love it. I hope to add more to my collection.
My LD had about 12 of them and I would say 9-10 of them had horrible cores. Some were very very loose and they almost didn't look like Troll cores to me, a bit thinner or something Most of them were pretty with a nice flash but the cores were pretty bad. I bought one of the 2 that had decent cores and a nice flash. Keep looking and you will find a nice one.

Re: Loose core on Red tigers eye??
I have also notice that the core where loose. And I ask my LD why some cores are lose.
And she explaince that maybe it had too to do that the stone is sometimes break wann the core is not loose.
I hope you understand what I mean. So it can be natural by these beads.

Re: Loose core on Red tigers eye??
I have two red tigers eyes, asked my jeweller to look out for me for two real beauties. It took her 2 months, and then she found me 2 wonderful stones. But: on both of them the core is loose, one is worse than the other.
I hate loose cores, but these stones are so very pretty that in this case I keep them.
I show you a pic:

Re: Loose core on Red tigers eye??
I have 2 Red Tiger's eye, they had 3 in the shop and all of them were quite loose, I wondered if they did this to not put stress on the stone, but seriously there is a lot of room...
Lovely combo though, I'll have to try mine with the Pink Kimono beads...

Re: Loose core on Red tigers eye??
Loose cores are not limited to the RTE. Though it does sound like the quality is getting worse.
I have noticed with the labs and the onyx that the core is more often loose than tight (with regular glass it also occurs). I don't think that tightening the core means a higher risk of cracking the stone, since not ALL stones have loose cores. Also, when the core is loose, dirt can get in which may also cause damage and you can't really clean it. No loose cores for me.

Mine is very beautiful, but with a very loose core, and it is narrower than the core too.
