Longevity OOAK

Yesterday morning I saw one of those OOAKs Tish calls 'fireants' in a shop window when the shop was still closed, so I had to go back today and get it (no I'm not addicted )!
I was wondering if the 'ant' symbol has some meaning and several TB friends on facebook lead me to the solution that in fact it is a stylized version of the Chinese sign for 'longevity'! I'm so happy I got it as the meaning and the colours go so well with the Tibet bead, so a Chinese symbol will now reside happily on my Tibet bracelet !

How exotic! And after watchin a demo yesterday I have much more appreciation for the skill and dexterity that goes into work like your longevity bead.

Meanwhile, how funny is fireant!

Someone told me, I think, that the sign on the bead is OM or OOMMMM (AUM) - the sound when meditating. Now who was it? Is she right?

I will return if or when I remember :-)

That is really elegant and I love the meaning. I would have haunted the shop until I could get in to buy it.

Great bead and bracelet. I wish this style bead would show up at my local dealers.

No, Bb, there are Om TBs too, but the symbol is a different one. Suzanne Hopping just posted hers on facebook, the Om sign looks like this:

But as I wrote, the symbol on my bead is a very stylized version...

No, the guy in the shop said they had it for ages on a starter bracelet (the kind with 2 OOAKs) and since no one bought the set, they decided now to split it up and sell the beads separately. And I have to say, the other one that was with this one on the bracelet (he showed it to me) would have won a price for the most ugliest ugly , orange with turquoise and yellow warts !

Ah....one of those famous buglies So you were lucky that they split the set !



Thinking about it ....maybe the poor other bead got the yellow warts from contact with the fire ants

I always thought it was a combo of "butt" and "ugly"...

I think it's nice to have a bead that you know that some one from Tibet made, thinking of their homeland and by owning this bead you have helped a community in a small way..

To complete the whole I think you have to go to Longevity Wellness Resort in Portugal (in Monchique).... I have recently been there...
