Manga on the shell
I picked up some shells on the beach in this spring.
This combo reminds me of that day.
They are a kind of sea urchin's shell. We call them "Tako no makura" in Japanese which means "octopus's pillow".sounds funny!

Beautiful bracelet and beautiful shells, Hisae. By the way, in the U.S., those are "sand dollars" (like money). Isn't it wonderful that we both have fantasy names for this little creature?

Love to see the Manga by the sea. The bright colours go so well with the softer shell type beads.

Re: Manga on the shell
Thank you all.
I didn't know you call them "sand dollars" in English,ZAKLINZ.they look coins rather than pillows.
Yes,they are real shell,Daiysylove.live in the bottom of the sea,and covered with short spines. If they die, spines drop off.so we can see the beautiful flower pattern on it.shells are quite fragile.

Beautiful bracelet, love the fresh colours and Manga looks right at home!
I remember being given a sand-dollar as a child from someone who had been overseas on holidays, but I broke it and was really upset...

Beautiful shells and bracelet H.Y.!
By the way, if you don't mind me asking: is Hisae or Yamakaki your family name? My guess would be Yamakaki but I don't know if your nickname is in Japanese or 'Western' order

Love the combo. THe Manga looks great with the Caribbean bead and the retired glass stone (?) I have yet to use my Manga, thanks for the inspiration.

Lovely sea themed combination of silvers and coloured glass. I love the Tako no makura shells, I've never seen them before, very beautiful. What part of Japan did they come from ?
