Book of Wisdom

It arrived

And I am so so so so happy with it!!!!

As I can not draw nor sculpt, I used what I am good at to describe my idea of a book of wisdom: Words. My entry was for a book that looks old and leatherbound for it would symbolize wisdom. Sita took these words and added her creativity and created this wonderful piece of art

A book for me is wisdom and the chance to learn and do better because of it. It is also my means of creativity as I do write, myself.

Sita chose the motif on the front and it was inspired by Norse mythology and the Överhogdal Tapestries. I googled them and found most wonderful pictures of this really old tapestries here:

I so love the symbol of a tree and I especially love that it is different from other trees of wisdom. And I also love that it has no title, because this way it can be everybody´s own book. Sita told me that for her it has blank pages so that we may write our own story and history and that I love most about it, for there are stories and there is wisdom in all of us As all Faerybeads it has a mystic aura about it that is deep and powerful. I absolutely love it

The creation of this bead has been a wonderful journey. I meant to give it additional meaning in applying a familiar and fitting symbol for this bead representing the Book of Wisdom, which indeed, to me is not just a book to be read but just as much to be written: a book with Tabula Rasa - blank pages - describing your own story and wisdom gathered, validated through the years, ages.

Then, a few weeks ago I finally recalled why I had been searching for this symbol, this specific Tree of Life - Yggdrasil, depicted on a famous tapestry from the Viking Age. It was your book "Hagalaz" that had been on my mind when contemplating the final design. I'd once seen a picture of the Överhogdal tapestry but it was over 30 years ago and it took me some time to remember how it was called and to find better pictures of it.

Enjoy your bead and I hope it instills many pleasant, fruitful contemplations and inspirits you to add your wisdom.

Wonderful bead and story behind the making, I love the tapestries that inspired the symbol on the cover. I also like the idea with the book having blank pages so that everyone can create his or her own story. You can be really proud Trollperle for such a wonderful bead and also Sita for taking Trollperle's words and making them into a bead.
