Drakenwald
With time come beads and with beads come so many wonderful possibilities
Ever since I have had enough green beads I have had a garden bracelet. It changed and evolved, got darker in fall, lighter in spring. Then more beads came and with what FB call „Jormungand“ and I call „Lindwurm“ the darker one became a forest one and was not dismantled in spring but became a representation of a forest and place that is very personal and special to me.
These Caves are called „Drakenhöhlen“ - Dragon´s Caves, "Draken“ being a rather old word for „dragon“. They used to be open when I was young, now they have a fence and when I took the photo were supposed to be off-limits due to falling rock, but I went anyway (not inside but outside). The stones remind me of the basalt stones of the giant´s causeway, so that bead was a must.
And then last week I finally splurged and got the TB tower bead to represent the „Buttenturm“ the last remaining tower from the 16th century town walls.
Obermarsberg now is more like a little village on top of a hill but it used to be a town even before the 700s controlling the trade at a cross point of two very importang trading routes north-south and east-west. As „Eresburg“ it was a hillfort taken by Charlemagne and his frankish army from the old-saxons in 772 and it was said to have hosted the „Irminsul“, the saxon´s holy pillar holding the earth in Germanic mythology. Many other places also claim to have been the place of the Irminsul, but this one for me is the most plausible of them all That is also why my book „Hagalaz“ takes place there http://www.amazon.de/Hagalaz-Wandler-der-Irminsul-ebook/dp/B00900PGJ6/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1371990159&sr=1-1&keywords=hrabana.
Now I can take a bead-representation of the forest with me wherever I go

Re: Drakenwald
When TB says "Every story has a bead" they don't realize how interesting & elaborate some people's stories might be! So glad you shared this fabulous backstory with us!

Thank you all, my dears, for your lovely comments This is a very special place for me and I am super happy with the bracelet
Yes, Fuzzyfeet, I actually wrote two books Hagalaz is Urban Fantasy (three more yet to come - might take a while as I usually need several years ) and then there is a Historical Romance, too

Thank you
Unfortunately they are only in German, both under a pseudonym (Samantha West for the historical fiction and Hrabana for the Urban Fantasy).
