Re: U.S. World Tour beads
There were Viking settlements in Newfoundland that predate Columbus. (Newfoundland is on the East coast of Canada.) It's fascinating to think that they made it to North America in the ships they had then. Talk about a tough people!!!

No sorry needed, DblJJ! It just struck me as funny. I can't imagine Eske or anyone else in Scandinavia modeling Columbus' ship when Erik the Red got there first.

Re: U.S. World Tour beads
Hm, Columbus never actually sailed to the U.S., I think. - Eric, though I am not sure, he reached what is now Canada against all odds, so to have drifted a bit more south does not seem too unbelievable, especially considering the harsh environment on beautiful New Foundland, maybe they wanted to check if it were warmer south I once went to LĀ“Anse Aux Meadows, it was the middle of July, stiff winds, about 7 degrees celsius, cool drizzle, starkly beautiful and REALLY bone deep cold even at the peak of summer
I really hope Canada and the U.S. will get their beads! Maybe an ice berg for Canada? I loved the ones drifting near the New Foundland coast (they make really tasty ice cubes, too). Or a buffalo head for the U.S.?

Re: U.S. World Tour beads
Please could it be a whole buffalo rather than just the poor beast's head like a stuffed trophy hanging on a wall.

Re: U.S. World Tour beads
Very amusing to speculate, I think we will all be surprised. I don't think a Raven, you see more Crows in the US than ravens unless you live in the mountains, and I associate ravens more with the Tower of London and battle fields across Europe, I'm not an expert on Poe but maybe someone else knows where his raven influence came from. A whale for Hemingway and Moby or whale's tail for Nantucket? Then there are the Golden Arches (That would be a giant "M" for McDonald's, something the US is famous for spreading across the globe. ) Maybe a locomotive or Model "T" (someone else suggested), a granite bead would be lovely. Hmmm...

BB they could do a buffalohead nickel like bead that wouldn't look like the head of a stuffed beast above the hearth.

I'm thinking the Wizard of Oz, because.. because.. because.. because.. because..... because of the wonderful things he does!
Of course, that would include the whole gang, kind of a Mad Hatter tea party type of a bead. Maybe around a hot air balloon.

Re: U.S. World Tour beads
All this chit-chat is getting me excited about the World Tour again. I'd LOVE a Native American theme bead.
Re: U.S. World Tour beads
Hey I had a thought (though I'm sure it's not original)
Wouldn't it be fun if Trollbeads finally released a glass smiley face bead as part of the World Tour US to commemorate Harvey Ball's original Smiley Face design from the '60's? It would beat another orange, white and blue stripe bead and we could all use some more smiles! Just picturing it on the bracelet with the other countries colors makes me smile.

O.K. this is quite far from the US beads but just for information: Swiss shops are announcing that there will be Swiss WTB on june 18th.
edit: thanks for the idea, new thread just opened!

Why don't you start a new post for the Swiss beads, Lavender?
So we can all start speculating on eidelweiss and alps and cheese and chocolate and watches!

Yes and I think that UK Customs will catch any US beads that I buy and impose their wicked charges so I may be obliged to give this one a miss.
