Eye beads
So how many different designs are there of this bead? These are the two that I have:
Sorry for the crappy photo, but with all the snowmageddon drama here I didn't get home till after dark. I am having trouble using these beads. The one on the right is new--came in my swan kit. I didn't realize that the pupil of the eye was raised on this style. Anyone want to talk about this or am I just too bored to come up with things to discuss?

No, it's a great topic!!! Unfortunately I own just the right one... I love it, might be difficult to use, but once it finds it's place it's great! Wish I had more eyes, but they are not easy to find or cheap!

Re: Eye beads
I do only have the left one and love it with the new blue Hematite and coral beads. It's one of the very uniques, I've bought last year.

Re: Eye beads
That is how I used them...
I plan to buy the new barrel shaped TB Silver with the turtle on and use it with more silver and a pearl and the Evil Eye, like a kind of statement bead, to ward off evil or to protect, but first must find a nice one. The scarab would also go nicely with it.
Do you find it difficult to choose the silver or the glass?

Fleur & Catsworld your combos are great! I think I have trouble with the eyes in general. I think the design is great, but not sure I like my bracelet looking at me.... I'll keep playing with them, maybe they will grow on me.

Re: Eye beads
So far, I've only used my eye bead once, and that was with other blue beads to tame it a bit.

Re: Eye beads
Those are the only two I have; and I'm afraid I LOVE them alot and have mutiples. I'm almost certain that I've seen the Egyptian eye in a brown palette on this forum. Anyone else recall that?

Re: Eye beads
I've got 2 Egyptian and one Evil, love the egyptian to pieces but have to admit I am having problems with the evil eye, as a standalone bead I love looking at it but it's not working for me on a bracelet.

Re: Eye beads
I totally love this theat and the eyes - they are among my most liked beads
My eyes look after my two Lhasa Girls - especially since Gyalmo´s scare with a street cat a few months back that sat on our grounds under our car and scratched Gyalmos eye when she went too near - luckily it healed but we were really scared for her sight...
and the current one

Re: Eye beads
I love the eye beads and finally have some. I have hunted for them since I first saw the older ones.
Love the pictures of all the beads.
I have been wearing them on a bangle.

Re: Eye beads
Trollperle I never really considered, but your Tibet bead is really an eye bead. Seems like you have an old orange one too! Lucky Trollie!
Regarding the eyes, I use to have a dear friend who was Lebanese. She talked about wearing a blue bead or an evil eye amulet to ward off the evil eye. Of course she didn't really believe believe it but she did enjoy maintaining the tradition. Personally I have an evil eye amulet handing from my bedroom window. You never can be too careful!

I'm curious: what makes a Tibet bead "an old orange" one? I knew there were different shades of the GLA.

Re: Eye beads
Beady-Eyed, I think PansyCat meant that the Tibet Tibet bead rather looks like an eye bead, with its dots. And that Trollperle has an old orange eye bead, as well.

Re: Eye beads
I think whoever made my eye bead, made trollperle's too, they look identical. I got mine from steffans years ago, it looked very unloved right up in the corner of a display case while everyone was after the raspberry Dillos. I only picked it up because it was so neatly made, very balanced, just perfect. I had no idea at the time how I would use it, but I had to have it.

Re: Eye beads
I've only got this one
but I have also seen a design where there "eyes" are at right angles to the way they are normally done. They look like eyes to me anyway - I think I have a photo on my phone somewhere - I'll dig it out. Sadly I don't have the bead in question - just a photo from a shop.
