Throwback Thursday Inspiration Empty Throwback Thursday Inspiration

Post by kyhalfpt Thu Jan 22, 2015 11:47 am

Thought we could play a little throwback Thursday.  I was looking at an older digital TB catalog yesterday and was mesmerized by several of the bracelets shown.  Since I love orange and yellow, I was particularly fond of this one:
Throwback Thursday Inspiration 30903D7F-4944-4431-BFD8-79179604BEA0

I cannot recreate it since I don't own most of these and luckily I am immune to gold fever, but it does make red shadow look appealing to me.  Also, is the bumpy bead near the lock Issey?

Anyone else have a throwback combo to share?  Either your own or a stock photo?

I don't have Red Shadow, but I remember seeing one in person when I was shopping in Michigan. It was really striking, but since I had six beads and a lock in my hands to purchase, I put it back! I have enough beads to make a "Mango" bracelet. Hmmm.

just realized there is another photo of this combo, if not the same close, in the book that came with the German clover.  Photo below scanned from the book. Bumpy bead isn't Issey. Anyone know what bead that is?

I actually thought, it was Issey.
There was some variation on this one too and it would blend in the time, those beads wee available.
Will have to check the book again.

I think it's just a dreary Issey; I've seen some pretty dull ones.

I really love the Issey bead, Love Love Love

and in that old book there are quite a few very lovely combos, some of those beads are somewhat unrivalled nowadays.

I wonder if that shop is reliable ?(the one that sells Issey, there is something else I quite like)

I have purchased from them several times without problem. I know there has been some delay with confirmation emails lately maybe because of the increased volume due to the sale.

I'll check my Issey's; might have a dark and dreary one. But if memory serves, mine are all in-your-face orange.

Love the combo because it makes use of one of my old favorites - orange armadillo. Love that and the green one. Have about a million of them, can never resist them!

I agree that these combinations are ageless.  Do you think the newer beads will continue to have appeal like these do?

Yes, this is also in the book Dutch jewellers have. It made me to buy the yellow hematite, which is actually more brons-colouring

I agree. I have purchased from them previously with no problems. In fact, I got my Pink Russian Amber today. (ooh la la)

Thank you so much for sharing this site!  Their combos are great!  I love how they use the older beads with the new ones, it really is helpful.
