Red glass beads
I took a few comparison pics of red striped and red budded beads. I don't think any of mine are as orange-y as their stock pictures!

Well that is a relief because it used to be the other way round.

I love the reds, really wish they would do a proper red release (not orange!). Your scarlet bud is to die for.

Red stripe and autumn rays look so similar in your picture! Is there more variation IRL?
Re: Red glass beads
Yes, I was pleasantly surprised by the Autumn Rays and Scarlet Bud beads I received, good strong reds. So it's worth looking for them. I don't know how much variation there may be.

In real life, my Red Stripe beads have a bit more orange in them than does my Autumn Rays bead. Particularly under incandescent light indoors.

Re: Red glass beads
Most of the autumn rays I have seen have a lot more of the coral opaque stripe - I was lucky to find one like Linda Jo's that was mostly transparent red (I don't do coral!)
Also, looked at from the side, my red stripes seems to be clear red glass with the more opaque stripes embedded in it. The autumn rays has colour only in the middle and is encased in clear colourless glass, not that you can really tell when it's on a bracelet.

Re: Red glass beads
Wonderful colours. The two new red beads from this autumn fit beautifully into the set of 2012, I find. They are a tiny itsy bitsy more red, I think, at least mine, but only if I look very closely

Re: Red glass beads
Great photo essay, LindaJo, about the red beads. Thanks Chocoholic (lady with the wonderful name) for writing the description of the differences between beads.
I "stocked up" on the older reds but after seeing this, I think I should try to find a nice scarlet bud.

Re: Red glass beads
You are so right, Chocoholic! I took the beads off their bracelets today for a 'naked' comparison. Autumn Rays and Peach Stripe have their colours at the core, encased in clear glass.
