Marius the little giraffe
I was so sad when I heard about poor Marius the little giraffe and I decided to make a bracelet in his honour. Thank you to a lovely Trollie on here who had the little giraffe for sale and thanks to the lovely Trollbeads dealers who I won a beautiful set of glass flower ooaks from

Re: Marius the little giraffe
It is a fitting bracelet for him to be walking in flowers. It was very sad thing.

Beautifully done. How sad and tragic that what happened to Marius is an accepted practice. IMHO Very Sad

Beautiful bracelet! I had the same thought when I saw the little giraffe in the sale section, but didn't know if I could wear the bracelet without feeling sad. Really a beautiful tribute you have made for him.

How sad - I somehow missed this whole story in the news. I think most people have been unaware of such practice up until now. May be now it will change.

You did a lovely job!!! I missed the full story, funny thing that the little silver giraffe travelled all the time with a guardian angel! Nothing in life is coincidence!

I have had them for a long time but I can't remember the brand and sadly haven't seen any since but they seemed to fit so well with this bracelet.

What a lovely bracelet, in honor or Marius. Still unbelievable what happened to him. We will not be visiting that zoo, that's for sure!

That's beautiful, and I love the Giraffe bead. I know this is to commemorate a sad event but congrats on your win, you've put them to good use.

Re: Marius the little giraffe
They do the same with lions. I went to a white lion park in South Africa and played with a couple of cubs for a good hour. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, they're just like domesticated cats with rougher fur. But what I didn't do, was think about what would happen to those cubs when they grew up and stopped being so cute.
When it was explained to me last week I was horrified. I would never do it again.

That's awful!
There are on the other hand also good stories, last week I saw a program on TV about two guys in the UK, who bought a tiger cub at Harrods somewhere in the 80's (yes, the famous warehouse). They raised him until he grew too big for them and the owners wanted to set him free in nature where he came from. They did, and after a few years they went back to see how the tiger was doing. They were afraid that the tiger had already been killed, but to their great surprise, the tiger was still alive, and he recognised his former 'care taking fellows'. I was very touched by this story.
