Hrist - Shield Maiden of Odin

She may look scarred and battle worn, but perceptions can be as deceptive as the allmighty Odin whom she serves. Some call her and her sisters „Demons“, others „Odins meyar“ (Odin´s maidens). Her history has been long, full of battles but also of bravery and glory. She has come to stay near Aždajan for a while, so that she may protect him while he continues his songs of might and magic to regrow his other two heads.



According to Grímnísmál 36, Hrist (from old norse for „shiver“ and „quake“) was one of 13 Valkyries (the number of Valkyies differs in different sources). The name Hrist also oftentimes was used as a kenning for „Woman“.
