Weight?
Has anyone else noticed, that the weight of gold and gold/silver beads has changed on trollbeadsuniverse?
and many of them must have had a diet to loose some weight?
E.g. heart (213110) now 3,05 g (was 4g)
royal 2,44 g (3g)
2+2 gold 3,75 g (4,4g)
A very few have gone up though e.g. wisdom and happy universe.

Re: Weight?
hmmmm... I would not be surprised if this has to do with the increasing precious metals prices. But troll raised their prices anyway... so this would be double.... Maybe they just used a more accurate scale for weighing the beads....
What I did notice anyway is that the new releases seem to get tinier and slimmer than ever... e.g. the dolphin and seahorse locks, and the starfish, sunglasses, seahorses and coral as well...

Re: Weight?
Gold has actually gone down in price over the last months, so we are certainly going to see prices adapted to the demands of the precious metal supply market very soon - aren't we? TB? Hello?

Re: Weight?
the beads have been losing weight for quitte a while now
if you put an old and en new ( the same) bead on a scale you can tell the difference.
there has been a topic with a list on a dutch forum with the specific ( big) differences.
with some, like the big berry you can even see it, it has a bigger hole and is completely hollow now

Re: Weight?
It's has been going on for a while now.
Some beads are really thin now. Its possible to disform the bead if you sqeeze a little.
And some bead just feel really light. For instance the big berry.
It has for sure to do with the increase of silver and gold prices.
The didn't increase the prices of TB but decreased the silver used.
So we're paying the same prices but get less!

Re: Weight?
I think they have changed colour too, meaning the composition may have changed. Some of my older silvers (ugly duckling) are richer, and have a golden sheen. I thought it was the age of the bead, but my panda (I bought yesterday) has it too. While some of the newer thinner beads look more like gun metal grey and no, good polish didn't make a difference.

Re: Weight?
I recently bought a small scale and also have noticed that the weight of quite a few beads, both gold and silver, is less than currently shown on the TB website...I guess TB still has them on a diet. Makes a price increase kinda hard to swallow when you are evidently still getting less bead for your buck. For those who have both older and newer versions of the same beads, have you ever weighed them to compare? I have duplicates of a few silvers that I think I will weigh just to see, no gold duplicates unfortunately. Of course, everyone's scale is calibrated differently so a weight comparison using two different scales wouldn't necessarily be accurate, but two of the same bead on the same scale would in theory show if it has been downsized. I like the heavy beads, wish TB would keep them that way!

Re: Weight?
The locks got smaller too. I have 2 dichroic flower locks, one is 6 years old, while the other is about a year old. The newer one is definitely smaller.

Re: Weight?
That's disappointing, Pandabee, sorry to hear that. I have duplicate lace locks, I will have to check them too. I think most of my beads are newer though, unfortunately.

Ahh somehow I never noticed that until you pointed it out. My older locks are definitely much heavier.
Re: Weight?
I'm starting to get really angry with troll.... high prices for china produced beads and then they are getting slimmer and slimmer....

Re: Weight?
A quick weigh in reveals:
Lace lock: TB weight, 3.67g; my two, 3.63g and 3.33g
Theatre masks: TB weight, 4.77g; mine, 5.01g and 4.62g
Scarab: TB weight, 3.59g; mine, 3.88g and 3.55g
Indian Elephant: TB weight, 6.59g; mine, 7.53g and 7.05g
Whorl: TB weight, 3.02; mine, 2.67g and 2.55g
Seer: TB weight, 9.96g; mine 9.59g and 9.27g
Around the World: TB weight, 2.79g; mine, 2.60g and 2.60g
So, I really don't know if this demonstrates anything, I'll let you be the judge. Of these beads, the Seer is the biggest loser, going from 9.96 TB weight down to 9.27. But maybe it's just that TB has poor quality control and/or an inaccurate website. And of course, it could just be the difference in scales. But it definitely shows a distinct variance in the weights of the beads, there was only one instance where both of my beads weighed the exact same and that was Around the World.

Re: Weight?
I had my LD weigh the re-released Joyfuls when they came out. Lots of variation. I notice that you have some winners as well as losers there.

Re: Weight?
I agree with you Catsworld, sorry if it's a sore point. I was really just curious how many here might have actually weighed their beads and what the results were, if they wanted to share that information. I am finding my little scale quite handy! Honestly, it may not show anything at all, like I said earlier, but then again, it might. For those of us who don't have any LDs to go to for weighing, there would at least be some numbers for comparison to the TB weights.
