This is magnificent Sita. Such fabulous detail.
There is a similar creature carved in sandstone outside the library here in the town where I live. Somerset has a long association with the Griffin and it is on the county flag. Around here the creature is often referred to as a Wyvern which was the symbol of the ancient Kings of Wessex.
