First attempts with leather
I spent last week in New York, where I knew I would fall off of the wagon as M&J's OOAKS are always too lovely for me to pass by. What I didn't expect to come home with though was my first leather bracelet, I love it to pieces but does it need a safety chain?
I also picked up one new OOAK, it's not a S&B (although they did have some), not an animal or insect (again, they had some) but it is definintely my new favourite bead!

I love your new bead but I am very impressed with you for only buying 1 bead from M&J. Good for you!

Nice OOAK!! As for using a safety chain with leather bracelets, I haven't figured out a way that one would work. For that reason, I do not put any beads on my leather bracelets that I would be heartbroken over if I lost them!

(doing things the-bootleg-uh-"diy"-way warning) just a suggestion : i love using a small chain that has a spring ring clasp on each end. one spring ring clasp attaches to the leather (or rather to the big ring in the leather hole), the other to the 2 little loops on the other end of the leather. a lobster claw style clasp on one end would probably work even better b/c the opening will always be wide enough to go over any size ring on the leather or in the leather hole itself. its easy to make w/2 spring ring clasps (that have the little opened o-ring on the bottom) and a bit of chain. i use old necklace chain, but chain is pretty inexpensive from a craft store and there'd be enough for a few safety chains (and if you want it soldered, a jeweler would probably do such a small job for free or for cheap ).

bet your jeweler could solder you a really sturdy safety-chain, something much more professional than mine, rk9r. (i remember seeing really lovely pics of your leather w/your specials and would be heartbroken if lost too!)

ha ha, Artisan only I am afraid. Much as I adore the real thing I am not prepared to pay those prices for a bit of glass.
