'Mystery' bead...

Instead of us telling about this design, we'd like to ask what you think the newest addition to our collection is about... and of course if you like it!

Those who have seen this bead in person or on a picture, please don't spill the beans!

Interesting design. Looks like a Lotus to me

Hmmm. Reminds me of the crown on the Statue of Liberty!

Or perhaps a stylized dragon's paw.

To me it looks like night and day, moon turning into sun...sun into moon

My first thought was a crown but Sonic made me laugh. Like the silver, in either case.

The top of the merry-go-round in Tivoli - I am quite sure

But the Statue of Liberty is a good guess too!

Just look at it and Manhattan came to my mind, Liberty! Oh yes, it is a perfect Liberty bead! Beautiful bead!

Most of the attributions are correct, depending on which source you refer to for info about the Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World). This bead from the Faerybeads ‘Homage’ collection indeed refers to the crown of the Statue of Liberty. While Liberty’s crown shows seven rays we used five to emphasize the one undisputed meaning attributed to the crown that its spikes or rays refer to sun rays and the circle is a halo or what in Art is called a nimbus...

And five rays simply looked better on an abstract bead... The crown is represented 3 times on this 'open work' bead. The Statue of Liberty is an example of Neoclassical sculpture.

Having said the above... if you take 'enlightening' a bit further, you could also attribute 'eyes wide open' or 'seeing' to it. I also like the idea of a dragon claw or dragon eye. Actually the eyelids of a bearded dragon show markings of 'rays'.

Wonderful bead! Saw this to late to add my guess, but it was the same as many's—Statue of Liberty crown.

I LOVE Manhattan and Lady Liberty. Can't wait to see this bead in person!
