About Welsh Gold
When looking for charms of English landmark beads I stumbled on this site last year but never got to check it out. While the silver charms presumably are too shiny to most of us, the gold ones look pretty. The collection of 'royal charms' is made up of a series of beads relating to royal events up to the marriage last year of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
"Gold has been mined in Wales for thousands of years. Roman exploitation of the ore at Dolaucothi is well documented and can be dated back to 74AD but it is certain that the Celtic peoples of Wales were also extracting this precious metals from the hills and rivers of North and mid-Wales.
Welsh Gold has had a strong association with the British Royal Family since Victorian times in particular. The Windsors have their own reserve of Welsh Gold which they use for themselves on appropriate family occasions. Welsh Gold commands a significant premium to regular gold, so much so that to produce pure Welsh Gold jewellery at this time is prohibitively expensive."

Our further picks from the collection...
Does anyone own a Clogau bead? We'd love see to it!

Re: About Welsh Gold
I have several pieces of Clogau - 3 rings, 2 necklace/earring sets. Wanting to get the Tudor Rose bead (my surname) but funds not currently available. Also check out the outlet stores for great reductions.

I have 2 of their beads, they are tiny but beautiful. You can buy from their outlets over the phone but not online http://www.clogauoutlet.co.uk/

Re: About Welsh Gold
Very nice! The rose or red gold adds a lovely shine to your combo! I'm trying to resist though I love to see the "fairy bead charm" IRL. Wonder if the 9kt gold differs a lot from TBs 18kt yellow gold.cottinghamgirl wrote:I like Clogau jewellry, I have a pendant and one bead. Mine is one of the silver and gold ones.
