Gold leaf fun with Christmas Tree bead
I've been thinking that the star on top of the new Christmas Tree bead was crying out to be gold, so I used some gold leaf I have to make the star golden - i don't think it came out too bad!
I also tried my hand at gold leading my Happy Fish, some day I hope for a real one, but this gives me a taste of how it'll work for me if I take the plunge. Here is the Swiss Watch and flower that are really gold, as a comparision.

Re: Gold leaf fun with Christmas Tree bead
I was thinking the star needs to be gold, I can't afford it if they released a two toned bead though!
Your solution is genius.

Re: Gold leaf fun with Christmas Tree bead
Thank you all!
So far so good on it wearing well, but if it wears off a bit I can always just re-leaf it.
I used gold leaf I got Michael's, a craft store. The adhesive was a little tricky to apply since the silver is so slick, but it just needed a few thin layers of adhesive, I let it dry for about 30 minutes, then used a samll, dry water color brush to apply the leaf sheets.

Wow, what a great idea! Give the Christmas tree that extra special sparkle. Now Michael's is going to wonder why there is a run on gold leaf.

Your very brave to do that! It looks great, better than the original way. That star was crying out for gold.
