Danish Roadtrip
We've recently returned from 3 weeks in a campervan travelling round (mainly) Denmark. We had a brilliant time and I would really recommend Denmark as somewhere to visit!
Unbelievably, I only came away having bought one trollbead during our trip.
This was a strange kind of OOAK, I've not seen one like it before. It is sort of purple and green and cream swirls with some primitive flower type dots on top.
Here is is:
And here it is in a Denmark bracelet I made after we got home:
From the elephant lock and stopper: rough amber, seals, small red amber, green lilac dillo, tupilak, glitter amber, castle, Danish OOAK, silver bead with garnets, runes, turquoise prism, Bead of the Vikings, red and white OOAK (to represent the Danish flag), red cylindrical amber, Eske Storm Sea Stallion, blue green feather, royal, carved amber, tupilak mouth. All Troll other than the Eske ship.
Here are a couple of photos from our trip which show why I have used some of the silvers...
Seals - there was a seal on the beach at Grenen, at the tip of Jutland where the Skaggerak and Kattegat seas meet:
This is also where you can find amber washed up on the beach, hence a lot of amber in the bracelet.
Tupilak - to represent the bog bodies, ancient bodies preserved by the peat which are thought to have been ritual sacrifices. Here is Tollund Man:
Castle - we went to Egeskov Slot:
Sea Stallion - at the Viking Ship Museum at Roskilde we saw the remains of an ancient Viking ship of which a replica has been built and named Sea Stallion, unfortunately I didn't take a photo of the replica but this is a photo of the remains of another viking ship found in the same place in the fjord at Roskilde:
Royal - Roskilde Domkirke (Cathedral) is the main burial site for Danish royalty, and has been so since the 15th century:
And a couple of cool designs I saw - a church door knocker at the Hjerl Hede open air museum and a 10th century silver arm ring in the Nationalmuseet in Kopenhagen:
Now I may have only bought one trollbead, but I did get myself a Max Andersen Urnes bracelet:
And I made sure I visited Eske Storm's shop/workshop in Copenhagen. Eske was lovely to talk to and it was really interesting to see his workshop (now pretty much back to normal after the flood). Here is the obligatory Eske photo, with hammers! (it wasn't really cold, but I was having a bad hair day, hence the hat!)
The good news: I came away with two fabulous Eske pendants. The bad news: they have been squirrelled away by my husband as they are presents for Christmas etc, so I can't show them to you yet!

What great pictures! It looks like you had a fabulous time and saw some really neat things- and all your new treasures are great- you may have only gotten one bead, but it's a really special one!
And it must be nice to know that you have some treasures still to come at Christmas!

Re: Danish Roadtrip
We had some good holidays in Denmark when our children were small(Legoland) but we also visited the museum where the Bog bodies are displayed. The photos bring back some good memories, it is a good country to tour around. It was in the days before Troll for me, now I would like to go again for some Trollshopping at Tivoli. DH wants to drive over the bridge which links Denmark and Sweden so perhaps I will be able to persuade him to go. Just need the time!

What a great combo and a great story. I am sure you will keep that combo together for a while. Which pendants did you buy? I have been to the shop but it was closed. Maybe some day.

Thanks everyone
I've been wearing the Urnes bracelet nearly every day - I can wear it to work without worrying about beads falling off!
I will show you the Eske pendants when I get them...
