Bugs! and other interesting bits
I was delighted a few years ago to find one of my carved ambers has a half a critter in it, not sure if it is ant or teeny spider, but it is definitely cool and makes me feel a bit jurassic park scientist. I would love to see pictures of any other amber that has interesting inclusions. Here is mine, small picture sorry, will try to get better with my new camera

ooh, that is brilliant! yours shows off the bug very nicely. Can it be seen when worn? My one can only be seen from the side because the carvings obscure it.

When I bought the bead I didn`t see it I bought it because it`s a really big and beautiful lithuanien amber. At home I thought: what`s that ? It looked like a little scratch. When I looked at it from the side I saw it

Re: Bugs! and other interesting bits
We were talking about this the other day! I am so insanely jealous of your bugs! Thank you so much for sharing photos though! It's so nice to SEE they exist, even though I knew it was a likelihood.
I collect fossils and rocks and minerals from time-to-time. It's a bad hobby, but since I don't spend a lot of money on clothes, rocks and art supplies and beads are my Achilles heel. I am now going to scrutinise every amber bead in every retailer until I find one with an insect.
(Alarming the lady in Crystals the other day said the price for raw amber goes up when it has insects in! AH! I hope not with the troll beads!)

Re: Bugs! and other interesting bits
You are lucky to be able to visit dealers! All my beads have been bought from phots online. If i were able to scrutinise i woukd be there with my tiny led torch and magnifying glass!
I wonder how many buggy ones there are out there. The beads are so tiny it would be quite a rarity to ave a complete bug, mine has been halved through the shaping process

I have this clear amber and we're pretty sure it's a little beetle bug in it, but it's hard to photograph...

that does look a bit buggy indeed, like a wee weevil of some kind. Does the side view give you a clearer shot?

Here's my buggy amber . I think it's a mozzie as you can see a big long proboscis (sorry it's not a very clear piccie!).

Argh, even more jealous! xD I'm going to look like a total banana today when I go into town and look at the ambers in my local jewellers.
