Wedding pearls and gems

When I was putting together a bracelet to wear to my niece's wedding, Grieg's “Wedding Day at Troldhaugen” popped into my head. The music is jaunty and lively, different from the organ-infused, slow pomposity of traditional wedding marches. You can imagine flower-bedecked trolls cavorting the in woods next to a stone castle. The few LDs left near me are pearl-challenged so I got my nicest pearls online. I missed the silvery blue ones at Macrows but had a blueish peacock pearl on hand. This combo has been fun to wear with pastel tops this summer!

Absolutely stunning. I keep snubbing white pearls in favour of other beads but everytime I see them I wish I had some. Lovely, romantic combination. Is that an all silver 2+2?

That so lovely and convinced me to purchase a few pink pearls, when you order then on line do you ask for them to pick out a particular shade of pink or just trust to luck?

You definitely don't want to trust to luck! Ask a favorite online dealer who is willing to send you pictures of the pearls with the shades and sizes you want. The pink pearls vary quite a bit from ones with just a hint of pink to bright pink to mauve. Also you want smooth, round ones with nice luster. Once I bought a pearl from a store as a gift, picking out a nice size one with good color but when I got home I realized on close inspection (can't think why did I not do it in the store) that it looked like it had tiny scratches all over. Until I mail-ordered nice ones, I'd just accepted that they are natural in origin with flaws.

This is so pretty, makes me wish I wore pastels! I do wear grey though...hmm:)
