Fish Lock vs Big Flower Lock
I wondered if anyone who has this lock could tell me if it is the same as the big flower one? I noticed that the weight of it shows as being a little bit lighter than the big flower and I wondered how sturdy the large clasp is on it? Thanks

Re: Fish Lock vs Big Flower Lock
I have both and they seem "equally" sturdy and very much the "same size" in regards to the length of the lock with the extra clasp at the one end. I also find that these larger locks are easier for me to fasten myself, though I do love the designs of the other locks as well.

SilverBells, I have both locks and don't find any difference in how sturdy they are or in the size or weight. I think they are pretty equal.

Re: Fish Lock vs Big Flower Lock
The Big Flower lock is also a tad bit longer than the Big Fish, but both are equally as sturdy. The Big Flower is a bit heavier to wear. I've had both for 3 years and no problems with them. I also find them the most comfortable to wear because I lift a lot of kids and the lock lays flat on my wrist.

Thanks everyone for answering my question
You have now convinced me! Just have to convince hubby (for my birthday of course!) As I am supposed to be on the bead-wagon so to speak at the moment! But a girl can look and chat about beads without necessarily splurging!
Btw please excuse all the emoticons today! lol!
Hee hee!

So you're on the "BEAD-wagon".................who said anything about locks? bracelets? stoppers? safety chains?
BEAD wagon should be just that, limited to beads only!!!!

I totally agree with the bead wagon reasoning lol.
Can you tell me how you know the weights of the locks? Is information about weights of TB items online somewhere - I'd find it interesting (as I am a TB geek lol)

Re: Fish Lock vs Big Flower Lock
On trollbeads.com every listed bead also has the weight specified. So for instance for the lace lock it says '3.67g' and for the big fish lock it says '5.57g'.

(Could someone teach me how to make a link out of word if you understand what I mean?
You click the word, it links you to the website.)

I am always looking at the weight of the charms, locks, etc - I like to know these things! lol! Shame they don't have the weight of the retired items in the museum section though!

Re: Fish Lock vs Big Flower Lock
I can feel that the flower lock is a tad heavier but I like both these locks a lot because they are easier to hook. I did loose the pearl from my pearl lock (and my LD replaced it) but now I am afraid to wear that one too much.

Really, you need both so you can compare them yourself. I wear mine often because they are so easy to fasten, much less trouble than the smaller locks.

Great idea Carla. Get both! I have both and wear them often. Fish lock was my one and only for quite awhile. I think they SEEM sturdier than the smaller sized locks. They certainly are easier to operate.

I love both, but I think it is easier to combine the flower lock, as there are a lot of flower beads around.

Re: Fish Lock vs Big Flower Lock
I just bought a Big Flower lock for 50% off over the phone with C'est La Vie in Edmonds, WA. The store is discontinuing the TB line and everything is clearanced 40% off, unless you buy 10 items, then it is 50% off. I wanted the Fish, but they were sold out, so I settled on the Flower. I did this just yesterday.

Re: Fish Lock vs Big Flower Lock
Big Flower was my first lock - TrollTech thought it would be easier for me to use and then I bought my first Mexico lock as I love the colored glass on both sides.
When the Chinese silvers and jades were released - without a bracelet in the States - I got the Big Fish in a "buy a lock, get a bracelet" deal to wear with those beads. Now I use it whenever I do a sea or fishing themed bracelet. It is a lovely lock on its own and much easier to fasten than Swan.

Re: Fish Lock vs Big Flower Lock
I started out with a plain lock
and decided quite quickly after that to buy the Fish Lock.
I was scared it would be too big and not matching my beads,
but : i love my Fish lock !!!!
I wear it all the time !!!!

The big Fish Lock was my very first lock and my favourite. It still is five years on.

I also have both and adore them. So much easier to use as well and they seem very sturdy. I haven't had any issues yet.

Re: Fish Lock vs Big Flower Lock
making a word into a link? Ok, let me take a stab at it.
When you do "Post a reply", there's a line of icons across the top. About 2/3 of the way across there's an icon for "Link" (right after the icons for "Host an image" and "Image").
Click that icon. Copy your URL into the top box, enter the word or text you want to use for the link into the second box.
